Laser Hair Removal FAQ

How does hair removal work?

The laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue, a controlled amount of therapeutic heat targets hair growth at the hair follicle. In order to create a long lasting effect the hair has to be in its active growth phase. Consult with the Plastic surgeon and/or nurse prior t any treatment to ensure optimal treatment measures are meet.

What is LASER?
LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulation Emission of Radiation.

Can you treat my skin/hair type?
Spa Euphroa Bakersfield uses the latest, state of the art technologies to treat medium to dark hair on virtually all skin types. Our lasers are chosen after careful testing and research for results, safety and speed. Because the laser is attracted to the dark pigment in your hair, we cannot treat white or blond hair.

Is this guaranteed to work?
Results will vary from person to person, but most patients will achieve desirable hair reduction after 6 sessions. After each treatment you will see thinner and less dense re-growth. Some individuals may require follow-up treatments until they achieve their goal. We reevaluate a patient with each treatment and adjust the treatment protocol in order to achieve the best result.

Is this service 'regulated' by the government?
Our lasers are approved by the FDA for permanent hair reduction and services are provided under the supervision of a medical doctor by extensively trained and licensed professionals.

Why do I have to buy a package of treatments?
Hair grow in cycles. The number of treatments required depends upon your skin color, hair color and coarseness of hair and location of treatment. Lasers can only treat hair that is in the 'active growth phase'. The length of this phase varies by individual and by body part, so multiple treatments are required over time to disable the follicles.

How long between treatments?
From 8 to 12 weeks depending on area being treated.

What should I do (or not do) before my treatment?
Avoid sun exposure and do not apply tanning products for 4-6 weeks prior to appointment. Also, you should shave the area to be treated, but DO NOT wax, bleach, tweeze or use depilatories. Learn more...

Does it hurt?
Most patients tolerate the treatment very well. Some level of discomfort on certain areas may vary with each person, depending on his/her pain threshold. Topical anesthesia may also be required based on individual preferences and tolerances. Be sure to discuss it with one of our technicians.

What happens to your skin?
Some compare the feeling to a mild sunburn. There is no "downtime" following your treatment and most of the visible effects are gone within a few hours.
